City Bank and icddr,b Partner to Improve Treatment Outcomes for Childhood Diarrhea Patients
City Bank has partnered with icddr,b, one of the world’s leading international health research organizations based in Dhaka, to launch an initiative aimed at improving the outcomes of treatment for childhood diarrhea patients through a structured telephonic follow-up system.
icddr,b is globally recognized for its groundbreaking research and life-saving healthcare interventions addressing some of the most pressing public health challenges. Each year, the Dhaka Hospital of icddr,b provides free treatment to nearly 180,000 patients suffering from diarrheal illnesses, with around 40% treated through its Outpatient Department (OPD). However, due to the absence of a systematic follow-up mechanism, the post-treatment outcomes of many patients often remain untracked.
Through this initiative, healthcare providers will contact caregivers via phone the day after a patient’s discharge, monitor their health condition, and provide medical advice or guidance in line with standard treatment protocols. This approach will enable early referrals where necessary, prevent negative health outcomes, and ensure more effective recovery for vulnerable children.
By supporting this impactful project, City Bank reaffirms its commitment to improving community health and well-being, leveraging innovation and collaboration to create sustainable, life-saving change across Bangladesh.
