City Bank and UNFPA Partner to Empower Women through the Komlaphul Pharmacy Initiative

City Bank has joined hands with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to launch the Komlaphul Pharmacy Initiative, a groundbreaking partnership aimed at training young women as pharmacy associates across Bangladesh.

This marks the first-ever collaboration between City Bank and UNFPA, representing a significant step forward in advancing women’s empowerment while improving access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in underserved communities.

The initiative builds on UNFPA’s successful Komlaphul Pharmacy pilot, implemented in collaboration with key directorates of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The pilot demonstrated that female pharmacists and associates are often more trusted by women and girls, provide stronger counselling on SRH issues, and help expand access to essential healthcare services.

Building on this proven model, City Bank is now scaling up the project nationwide to create meaningful employment opportunities for women, promote inclusivity, and improve access to critical SRH services for marginalized populations. Through this initiative, City Bank continues to reaffirm its commitment to empowerment through sustainable impact, supporting communities, fostering resilience, and driving positive social change across Bangladesh.
