Shariah Supervisory Committee

Dr. Md. Anwar Hosain Molla is a highly recognized scholar in Islamic fiqh and jurisprudence. He is an advisor to numerous other Islamic financial institutions. He holds a Ph.D. in “Micro-credit and zakat in alleviation of poverty: a comparative analysis under department of Da’wah and Islamic Studies” from Islamic University. He also studied Arabic language and Islamic culture from King Saud University, Riyadh where he was awarded Gold Medal for his outstanding academic record.

Dr. Anwar is currently the principal of Uttar Badda Islamia Kamil Madrasa and an adjunct faculty of Manarat International University. He teaches Hadith Arabic, Aqidah, Fiqh and Islamic Studies. He has authored numerous books and articles in his field. He has also translated the Holy Quran into Bengali.

Moulana Md. Zainul Abedin has vast experience in Islamic financial jurisprudence and serving many Islamic finance institutions as Shari`ah advisor for long. He graduated from Dhaka University in Islamic Studies. He served as the vice-chairman of a reputed Islamic Bank in Bangladesh and as a principal of Tamirul Millat kamil Madrasah. He is also a Muhaddis. He was awarded as the best teacher by the Honorable Prime Minister, People's Republic of Bangladesh.

Dr. Abu Noman Md. Rafiqur Rahman is a Professor and Chairman of the department of Islamic Studies, Bangladesh Islami University. He teaches Aqidah, Islamic law and legal proceedings. He is a muhaddis (expert in Hadith) and an expert Shari`ah  advisor. He is also a Shari`ah advisor to several Islamic banks and Islamic insurance companies. Dr. Abu Noman is a member of Fiqh Committee of Central Shari`ah  Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh.

He obtained his Ph.D in Islamic studies from Islami University, Kushtia  and completed his bachelor’s degree in Da’wa and Usuluddin from The Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was awarded gold medal by His Excellency King Fahad Bin Abdul Aziz (R.) in the year 1980. He has authored many books and articles in his field.

Dr. Muhammad Yousuf is a Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Dhaka. He obtained his Ph.D degree in social security in Islam. He has extensive knowledge of Fiqh and Islamic Jurisprudence. Besides City Bank, he is also a member of Sharia’h supervisory boards (SSB) for other renowned organizations.  He published numerous scholarly articles in local and international journals.

Dr. Muhammad Obaidullah received his Ph.D in Usuluddin and Comparative Religion from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is working as an Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Islamic Studies, Manarat International University. He has extensive knowledge in Fiqh Muamalat, Da’wah Islamic Jurisprudence and he teaches Aqidah, Ethics and World Religion. He has published numerous books and research articles in national and international journals.

Shah Mohammad Wali Ullah is a renowned scholar and expert in Fiqh, Tafseer and Hadith. He completed his higher studies in Da’wah & Fatwah from Al-Azhar University, Egypt. He is a member of the Shari`ah Advisory Committee of Bangladesh Bank, a member of group working committee of AAOIFI (Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions, Kingdom of Bahrain) and also a Fiqh Committee member of CSBIB (Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh).

He is serving as Shari`ah Advisor to several banks and Islamic insurance companies. Currently, he is working as the Pesh Imam-Khatib and Principle of Baitus Suzud Jame Masjid Madrasha Complex, Dhaka. He has written several books, and many of his writings have been published in different newspapers, journals & magazines.

Mufti Shahed Rahmani is a distinguished Islamic scholar from Bangladesh with expertise in Islamic jurisprudence, economics, and banking. He studied under the renowned jurist Allama Mufti Taqi Usmani at Jamia Uloom al-Islamia, Karachi. He is a Senior Muhaddis at Jamiatul Abrar Bangladesh and the CEO of the Center for Islamic Economics Bangladesh.

Mufti Rahmani serves as Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee at Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, Bank Asia PLC, and Eastern Bank PLC. He also holds Shariah advisory roles at Mutual Trust Bank PLC, Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, Global Islami Bank PLC, IFIC Bank PLC, and Insaaf Finance Limited, Australia.

Dr. Mufti Yousuf Sultan, a distinguished scholar in Islamic finance and jurisprudence, has completed Dawra Hadith and Al Takhassus fi al Ifta (Post Graduation in Fatwa) at Jamiya Shariyyah Malibag, Dhaka. He further pursued MSc and PhD in Islamic Finance at INCEIF University, Kuala Lumpur, where he was honored with the INCEIF President’s Award.

Dr. Sultan plays a crucial role in the financial sector as a member of the Shariah Committee at Standard Chartered Bank (Saadiq) in Malaysia. His expertise is also recognized in Bangladesh, where he serves on the Shariah Advisory Council of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), IDLC Finance Limited, and IDLC Asset Management Limited. He is also a member of the Shariah Supervisory Committee of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. Beyond his advisory roles, he is the Founder and CEO of Adl Advisory in Malaysia and Co-Founder of IFA Consultancy, Bangladesh. Dr. Sultan also serves as a member of the Curriculum Review Committee of Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institution (AAOIFI), and Academic Board of Studies at INCEIF University.
